How do I schedule a lesson with a student? (For Tutors)
This is a common point of clarification! Due to Turkish Mate's flexible booking system, the process works slightly differently than traditional scheduling or subscription models.
Understanding the "Pay-Per-Lesson" Model
Turkish Mate operates on a pay-per-lesson basis. This means:
- There are no subscriptions or pre-paid packages.
- Students book and pay for each individual lesson they want to take.
- Because of this, you, as the tutor, cannot directly create or schedule a future paid lesson *for* a student in the system. The booking action must be initiated by the student.
Your Role: Managing Availability
Your primary role in the scheduling process is to keep your availability calendar accurate and up-to-date on your Teacher Dashboard. This involves:
- Marking the specific days and times you are available to teach.
- Blocking off times when you are unavailable (vacations, appointments, etc.).
Your updated calendar allows students to see when they *can* book a lesson with you.
The Student's Role: Booking the Lesson
The actual scheduling of a paid lesson happens when the student takes action:
- They visit your profile or the "Find Tutors" page.
- They check your available time slots on your calendar.
- They select a specific date, time, and lesson duration that works for them.
- They complete the booking and payment process for that single lesson.
Only once the student completes this booking process will the lesson appear as scheduled in both your and the student's calendars.
Facilitating Future Bookings Through Communication
While you can't schedule *for* them, you can certainly guide and encourage students to book future lessons:
- Suggest Next Steps: At the end of a lesson, discuss what you could cover next time and suggest they book another session soon.
- Recommend Times: If a student asks when you're free, you can refer them to your calendar or suggest specific available slots via the Turkish Mate messaging system.
- Follow Up: After a lesson, send a message summarizing what you covered and saying you look forward to their next booking.
- Discuss Frequency: Talk about their goals and recommend how often they might want to take lessons to achieve them, prompting them to book accordingly.
IMPORTANT SECURITY REMINDER: Never attempt to arrange scheduling or payments outside the Turkish Mate platform. All communication and booking must occur through the official system. Sharing personal contact or payment details is strictly prohibited and can lead to account suspension.
In short: You cannot directly schedule lessons *for* students. Your role is to manage your availability calendar. Students must then book specific time slots themselves. Use the platform's messaging system to communicate with students and encourage them to book their next lesson based on your availability.
