Click "Update profile picture". (See video 0:42 - 0:51)
Introduction Video (CRITICAL STEP)
Your introduction video is essential for attracting students.
Content: Record a 1-3 minute video where you introduce yourself, talk about your teaching experience and style, and explain why you teach Turkish. Be friendly and professional! DO NOT include any personal contact information (phone, email, social media).
Give it a relevant title (e.g., "Learn Turkish with [Your Name]").
Add a brief description if you like.
Scroll down and select "No, it's not made for kids".
Click "Next" through "Video elements" and "Checks".
In the "Visibility" step, select "Unlisted". This is vital! Public or Private videos will not work. Unlisted means only those with the link can see it.
Click the "Copy" icon next to the video link provided.
Click "Save" on YouTube.
(You can watch the detailed YouTube upload steps in the tutorial video above from 0:55 to 1:34).
Paste Link: Return to the Turkish Mate application form and paste the copied Unlisted YouTube link into the "Introduction video" field. (See video 1:34 - 1:35)
Biography
Write a short, engaging biography (in English or Turkish, as appropriate for your target students).
Describe your skills, work experience, teaching strengths, and what students can expect from your lessons.
Make it appealing to potential students. Again, DO NOT include personal contact details.
Click "Save" and then "Next". (See video 1:36 - 1:42)
4 Subjects & Languages
Subject to teach: Select all the topics you are comfortable and qualified to teach (e.g., Turkish for beginners, Advanced Turkish, Exam preparation, etc.). Students use these filters. (See video 1:43 - 1:50)
Language I speak: Select all the languages you speak. For each language, choose your proficiency level from the dropdown (e.g., Native Speaker, C1 Advanced, A2 Upper Beginner). Accuracy here is important as students often search by language.
Click "Save" and then "Next". (See video 1:51 - 2:04)
5 Resume & Experiences
Adding your credentials builds trust and is mandatory for verification.
Click the "Add resume" button. (See video 2:05 - 2:14)
